Project Profile: Wayne County (NC) Board of Commissioners

MAI performed two separate efficiency reviews of the Wayne County, NC Board of Commissioners’ Information Technology and Buildings and Grounds Departments. The review focused on increasing efficiencies within the departments, aligning staffing with workload, and establishing a method to measure and report performance. The review also evaluated and compared the cost of continuing to perform the work with County employees (in-house) with the cost of contractor performance. MAI developed statements of work including performance standards, quality assurance surveillance plans, management studies (including staffing and efficiencies), and cost estimates. Recommendations included strategic and tactical alignment of work with County priorities, improved work assignment and management processes, increased efficiencies in staffing, and improved oversight and management of valuable County resources.
